2009 Sam's Club MS150

The 2009 Sam's Club MS150 ride was held on May 2nd and 3rd. I was a fundraiser for this event and rode part of the 1st day. The 1st day ride was cut-short by the organizers due to bad weather.
I did see some interesting wildlife along the way :)
The route on day 1 was quite scenic and not very hilly.
My friends and I had a great time, all things considered! Some of my friends were beginners and we made it fun for everybody by sticking together and making sure everyone achieved their goal for the day. Absolutely no drops :)
The 2nd day of the ride was canceled due to severe storms in Dallas.

Ding Dong Bell, Pussy's in the well ... GCMA gets a bell ...

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy’s in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Green.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who ne’er did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

So goes the famous rhyme :)

I added a Karen-Crane brass bell to the GCMA (Green Co-Motion Americano). She looks wonderful with the new bell, take a look for yourselves!
Crane-Karen bicycle bells are made in Japan. They are made of brass and of course they sound great; quite melodious!

The mounting hardware that came with the Crane-Karen bell are probably better suited for thinner handlebars, not for the one on my GCMA. I did end up using zipties to mount the bell, in addition to using the stock hardware.

To my Cannondale T-800, my beloved commuter, I added a Eastman bicycle bell (made in India). I bought this bell from YellowJersey.org. The Eastman bell also sounds really great and especially loud and hence great for the commuter bike.
The mounting hardware that came with the Eastman bell did not work due to the thickness of my handlebar. However, they did fit my Nitto Lamp Holder, to which I also mount my Arkel handlebar bag. I am not sure the Eastman bell is easy to repair (might be easy to open it but not sure if it would be that easy to put back). However, I believe it is a good value for the price.
