On 5/18/2011, I rode to Coppell High School from work to participate in the Coppell Ride of Silence. There were about 50 people who participated in the Coppell Ride of Silence. It was a humbling experience to listen to the story of a fallen rider. A friend of the fallen rider, read out an email from the rider, sent just a couple of days before the fatal accident.
I was certainly glad to ride my bike to the venue, which was about 7-8 miles from work. I rode on Denton Tap road, which was quite crowded during the rush hour, but no one was rude, no one honked!
Family of the fallen rider!
Pictured is David, who organized the ride in Coppell. Thanks, David.
Deanna and her friend, who I met at the ride. The three of us were pretty much the non-lycra crowd!
Almost ready to start the ride!
Another shot of some of the participants...
When the names of fallen DFW bicyclists was read out, I remembered Anthony who was killed in Richardson, TX, during broad day light. My buddy Paul and I put up a ghost bike for Anthony.
