Another page in the book of life

It has been two weeks since we lost Chaka because of some craziness that took place at the City Vet in Flower Mound. This too is part of life. Not easy, but a part of life. Part of the pain that one suffers due to attachment.

Fully realizing that attachment causes pain, we took our chances and adopted our new family member, Coco from North Texas Chow Haven, a Chow rescue agency. Coco is 3-5 years old and she is undergoing treatment for Heartworms. We will do everything in our power to give this child a good life.

Coco is a joy to be around and loves to sleep, part of which may be due to her medications. The cats are a bit confused (aren't we all), but have accepted their new sister. Coco is exploring, learning and adjusting to her new fur-ever home. We are adjusting to loving her.

That's all the news for now from our neck of the woods.

Have a Happy WE!

Peace :)

  1. Sorry you lost your fur baby. I hope you and Coco will have many good years together.

  2. Hello, I am so sorry for the loss of Chaka! I hope Coco can fill the hole and bring you much happiness. Coco is a beautiful dog. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank also for leaving a comment on my post.

  3. Losing a pet is heartbreaking. I'm glad you are giving Coco a good home. I adopted a chow when I lived in Dallas, and even though I took her to training classes, she had a mean temperament. I had to give her up since I was expecting my first grandchild and was afraid of what could happen. I loved that pup and it was very hard to give her up, but she went to a no kill shelter, Operation Kindness, and was subsequently adopted by a rancher. I'm glad she found a good home, but still miss that beautiful face.

  4. I am so sorry that you lost Chaka! She await you behind the rainbow!
Coco is so nice and ... black! :)))
The tongue itself is black too!
    Enjoy the summer! Peace!✌

  5. How wonderful for Coco to find a home with you! Enjoy her!

  6. So sorry you lost Chaka! He was just beautiful! The new dog Coco is also a stunner! I bet you are enjoying this new family member so much!

  7. That’s a nice move and hope coco gives you comfort and cherish in absence of Chaka! It’s not easy to miss anyone and I could understand the pain of yours.

    take care

  8. Oh my. I'm soooooo sorry for your loss of Chako. I am very happy about you getting Coco and I know you will take good care of her.

  9. Your blog contains a great history of Chaka. I refer your visitors to which starts out with Chaka as a puppy and continues until this current sad - and joyful, post.

    1. Thank you, Steve!
Thanks for your kind observation & sentiment.

  10. I am so sorry to hear about Chaka -- she was a lovely dog. Our son and DIL lost one of their Aussie shepherds just before we visited them recently.... not an easy time at all (but they and you have the right attitude). Best wishes to Coco -- she has found a beautiful family!!

  11. Oh, I am just now reading this...I am so, so sorry for your loss. She will always be a part of your heart...but it is no easy matter to not have them in our life. So very sorry to just now be reading this.

I hope Coco helps to ease the least she will have a good life with you guys.
